Typically referred to as a "Pinard Horn", this traditional method of listening to a baby's heart whilst in the womb has been popular with midwives, doctors, nurses and expectant parents since its invention in the 19th Century by Dr Adolphine Pinard.
In order to detect a fetal heartbeat, the Pinard Stethoscope needs to be positioned close to the fetal heart, giving a more accurate indication of the position of the fetus.
